Cooking Fried Rice (with taiwan sausages)

One of my goals this holidays is actually to cook all my favorite dishes from Zi Char 煮炒 (zhu2 chao3) literally meaning ‘cook & fry’ or restaurant style.

So I started with fried rice 炒饭. How’s how I did it.

Cooking Ingredients

(left to right)Pepper, soya sauce, 2 eggs, corn cooking oil, sausages (used because I didn’t get char siew)

Standby Ingredients

Cooled cooked rice. Sliced sausages and chopped cabbages.

Crack eggs into a bowl

Stir, add soya sauce, stir, add pepper, stir.

Add oil to wok

Fry rice in the oil.

Add the eggs mixture.

Throw in sausages.

Stir-fry.

Throw in cabbages.

Done.

The mess I made of my home’s kitchen.

Time to clean up!

Completed dish, yum yum.

Other variations of fried rice can be created with different ingredients - using small onions(my dad’s method), spring onions, char siew, slice carrots, samba, peas etc etc…

My Music
It was a great experience, although at times it drive us all cranky.

As usual, some plans for my “holidays” start even before school term ends. I try again not to over pack myself with activities, and I hope there would be a balance for my schedule.

But right now, I just know I really blessed.

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;

Embed “My Music 2″ Flash Player

My Music 2

My Music 2 is released after some sleepless nights.

Improvements from “My Music 1″ its not internal with rewrites for engine codes, but go beyond implementing some new ideas planned. The new application is also open for the public which means you do not need to be a facebook user, nor required installations, to use it.

Among one of its features is song embed function which I’m testing below.

Other improvements include keyboard input, improved timings accuracy, instruments selection, learning/game function, and one of the most powerful function, a search for finding and learning music. The search engine is powered by musipedia which now uses My Music interface to provide them a rich searching experience.

There’s also a blog for My Music, which shares more information from developments to motivations of the application.

Remember to check out the app and have fun!

Twitter Timeline Updated

In my previous post Timeless Belt Of Time: How I Integrated Twitter in Timeline, I posted the code for laying out twitter posts on the timeline.

Previously that was done by calling the json Twitter API. It work well for the current 20 status but the archive call (80 posts) didn’t work. I filed a bug report at Twitter, but when I last check again 3 days ago, it was still not working.

To implement a workaround for archives, I modified my server side php code to get the XML format. SimpleXML was used for parsing the xml, then since my server didn’t support json, I use the json library from pear php.

Here’s the updated code for download.

Recently, I have a regain interest in adobe products, namely flash lite and flex. My first flash lite app is a Metronome, and maybe I might post it if I polish it up.
