Changing Gears on Cars vs of Mountain Bikes

Lower gear on a car gives more power, so does using lower gear on a mt. bike.

Higher gear on a car gives more speed, but so does a higher gear on the bike.

BUT…

Down-shifting on a car gives you engine-brake, on a bike up-shifting gives you pedal-brake.

SO

You down-shift on the car to give you braking force, but you down-shift on a bike AFTER you do some braking.

AND

You down-shift on a downslope to have traction while driving, but you up-shift to give you tauter pedaling.

Just some weird ideas that come to me while I cycle. It will be more accurate to use “I” for all the “you” written above.

THATS WHY MAYBE

You will feel more DRAG upshifting LATER in the car, but feel more so upshifting QUICKLY on your bike.

SUM UP…

Airbags may tell you STOP thinking about gears too much while driving, but an ENDO will tell you stop thinking about gears while cycling.

CONCLUSION
Switch to automatic transmission for your car, and switch back to a single gear BMX for your bike.

This will be a “FACT” after the “THESIS” of my “HYPOTHESIS” is accepted.

Discard these instructions of my prescription before side effects develop.

Yishun Fishing Village - Hot Spring - Tubings Repairs — 15 May 2005 Cycling Trip

Lots of fun and events Filesize: 90KB Dimensions: 640x480

One of the most eventful, fun, exciting and tiring cycling trip round Sembawang, Admirity, Yishun, both on and off-road cycling and walking.

Cycling the "fishing village" gives you lots of sight, smell, and feel you do not usually see in our usual city life. You hear sounds of nature - birds and other animals, lots of greenary and water bodies around.

Finishing the off-road, we break at Yishun neibourhood 2 for a stop for drink and ice-cream before hitting the small hit and down the wet, muddy slope.

We take a refreshing splash of water from the hot spring at Gambus, before hitting the roads back home. Here, my bike play me out again, giving me the 2nd pucture in 1 week, and 2 trips.

Patch is carried out before heading home.

Test Ride for New Tubing

I bought a new tubing for $6 at this bike shop at upper Thomson road near the prata place.

Inspecting the tire, I found 2 small metal stud poking thru and stuck in the tires, it was so small if I didn’t notice, inserting a new tubing would cause it to go flat too.

So it got changed and realised a few things.

  1. Rear wheel is wobbly
  2. Many parts of the bike show rusts caused that washing after the last trip
  3. Rear breaks need adjustment
  4. Derailleurs need adjustment

Then Teddy Blue and I went for a test ride at 10pm. Route taken here.

Jogging Track Route

Noticed a few stuff

  • Near Yishun Industrial Park seems to be building a SCDF building
  • Using Yishun Industrial Park as a alternate road to Yishun Ave 6
  • Candles or altars are lit across the canal.
  • Place where Sea Sports Club used to be changed alot and now is “Bottle Tree Restaurant”
  • The small dark, wulu roads are now lit with better street lamps.
  • A new bread store near å?£ç¦? (kou fu) kopitiam is hiring new staff

I’m flying

Wednesday morning was the day to ride Mandai’s Track 15.

To Mandai
Reaching there…

Ok, that's me
Thats me. After finishing that trail. Looked tired? I actually enjoyed it.

Direction
Opps, I cycled from the finishing to start point.

Outside the Toilets
Interesting sign outside the toilet.

Pressuring up
Pressuring up tires for road cycling, and going back home.

So, where was I flying?
Travelling down the steep slopes (with lobangs) of the trail, the speed was nice enough to fly going over some bumps. And I passby somewhere else (see pics below). I’m not telling you where the place is now, but try guessing :) Oh ya, try grepping more interesting pics over here before they are removed. See the rough route taken here.

I\'m Flying?

I\'m Flying? 2

So, do I seem like I flew?
