Module Bidding

After a few bidding rounds I finally got my modules allocated. They are (more computer science stream orientated)

CS2301 - Business And Technical Communication
CS2105 - Introduction to Computer Networks
CS2103 - Software Engineering
MA1301 - Introductory Mathematics
FNA1002X - FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

Nus module/timetable bidding system’s uses a credit system which I think SMU’s system is similar too. NTU’s is a fastest finger first type in my impressions.

The mistakes I learn from my 1st experience is insufficient planning and indecisiveness. Anyway here are some tips on planning.

First decide on the modules that you would want to take for the semester. It was difficult for me because I didn’t know what to stream to. I wasted time, credits and efforts bidding and dropping certain modules several times. Some advised me to take the common core modules so I have a backup path if I decide to jump line.

Listen for advice on which modules to take, some modules are easy to score, some interesting, some just to get accompany from friends. Take note of the modules workload, prerequisite and preclusions. Some would go to the extend of looking at the lecturer and the class population.

Use the NUS Timetable Builder. This would help to check if lectures/tutorials/labs etc time clashes, and give you the idea of time allocated for lessons.
