More BMT memories

Huat and Me.
Huat and Me

Taken when cleaning the dirty M16 rifle after firing plenty of blanks. On my face was a plaster placed by the medic after my face was bleeding getting hit by the rifle.

Not forgetting section 4
Sect 4

but Jeffry, our platoon’s designer and my helpful corridor assistant, was complaining that there are too few pictures of our section 1 mates as they were busy doing siakang, carrying hundreds of bottles and stuff.

Any he gave me this link to pictures (taken with huat’s cam) of more section 1 peeps, “Eve, POP Day!”, featuring stunts by jimmy lim too…

Goodbye BMT

In the final week of our 7 weeks BMT,  we took some photos for memories for our stay at the camp on Tekong island.

This is the last day 6 September 2005, cleaning our bunks, having standby beds, standby areas much more times than we had before. Our job was to make preparation of the POP (passing out parade) which PM Lee came, and then do the cleaning up before we can return home.

Some of my room/section mates having admin time.

You can see pillow cases, bedsheets all removed, waiting for new bedsheets to arrive.
Most of our cupboard have been all emptied into our duffel bags and brought home.
The rest have to be squeezed into our field packs.

More shots..

This time with me!

Our section vision, mission, goals and quotes.
"… Memorable BMT Experience" was our vision.
and my popular quote "Be a Man, man…".

Our corridor. My assignment happened to be the corridor I/C too (owning the biggest area here) (and the 3rd platoon I/C).

Cleaned window panes and rails plus swept and mopped floors.
Not forgetting our platoon toilet is the cleanest and with most scents.

Spartic poses.

Teddy Blue goes PTP

Paid him a visit before he enlists into NS. Brought him stuffs which should be helpful to him including a LED torch. Gave him a little advice, and we took some pictures.

Teddy Pink was there too, and here she’s writes about her send off experience. Much different from mine, I was in high spirits perhaps I had more people accompanying me and I have no gf.

All boys have to go through NS, but I do wish him all the best, and this would become a menorable and meaningful part in his life.

Start of my block leave

7 Sep 2005.

Went early in the morning for music audition at MDC (Music n Dance Company) at Nee Soon Camp.

Need Soon Camp was bigger than I expected, and I had to ask for directions. Meet an Systems Admin over there, he brought me to his office, introduced me to his team, and his officer brought me over to SAF Bands office. But Bands and MDC are not the same, and I continued my way finding for the auditorium at MDC.

At mdc, they asked me what I was auditioning for, I didn’t really know either, so I played the violin and viola for my audition by the chamber ensemble people.

After audition, I went over to the army market. Want to get a Maglite Flashlight for my brother, but instead got a 21 LED torchlight and a mini one. (Here’s a webby on LED torches)

Sidetracked..[
If my interest in some electronics down in primary school don't fail me, LED stands for Light Emitting Diode.

Why I wanted to buy the LED torch, in my imagination has these few advantages.

  • Same amount of batteries would turn the lights on much longer
  • No more blown bulbs
  • Gives a strong bright white light
  • Even Singapore has converted all its traffic lights to LED types from what I observe
  • Its small

Thinking of it, I created my own LED torch back in Pri 3. Created with only a red led, matchbox, aluminium foil, rubber band, I brought it to school to show off my invention. I will remember my form and science teacher who was so supportive of me even though I one of the "baddest" pupils in class.
]

Went home, played Max Payne 2, had dinner, read a little from the book “TIME Goes to War”. In the night I went to a wake of an elderly church member.
