Cool? I hope it is. (Oh, if you have not tried it, and you are view this as a full post, click here to try)
May I present to you the Live Posts. (ajax issnt the only hype word. i think more so for ‘live’ ).

The idea could have started with Another AJAX idea I had. (Click and see, you wont navigate from the main page!).

Then in also in my Sketches of My ideal wordpress page with ajax .

But what I wanted was for users to view the entire post (with its comments) while in the front page.

Thanks to Gregory for inspirations and his Sack of AJAX Kit (SACK) used.

The way now I see this page a little like gmail?, I must be a google fan.

Download the file now!  Livepost-0.1.zip

What Live Posts does now

  • View the full page of a post (content and comments) while in main page
  • You can add better click tracking (eg. for Top 10)

How to Install Live Posts

  1. Extract the zip file. Copy the file and folder into your plugin folder
  2. Edit your main template. Add <?php liveposts_url() ?> into the loop of each post
  3. Edit single.php from your theme. <?php livepost_start() ?> marks where the Live posts starts and <?php livepost_end() ?> marks where the Live Post ends.
  4. Activate your plugin!

Hope it works. All the best ;)

What needs to be done (TODO/Limitations/Future Enhancements)

  • Easiler Installation
  • Better Integration/Injection
  • One-click install
  • Better Integration

    • Package the SACK plugin
  • Cooler stuff
    • Precache and loads page while user’s cursor is around the posts after a certain interval

I spilled my lunch over myself, my keyboard, table, floor, monitor while typing this post (rice, sauce, chicken, eggs, vegetables, soup). :(

I will never bring my food or eat over my keyboard or anywhere near the computer. I will never bring my food or eat over my keyboard or anywhere near the computer. I will never bring my food or eat over my keyboard or anywhere near the computer. I will never bring my food or eat over my keyboard or anywhere near the computer. I will never bring my food or eat over my keyboard or anywhere near the computer. I will never bring my food or eat over my keyboard or anywhere near the computer. Now this feels better ;(

My theme does not have a single.php. What i do in that case?

    4. 4 Zz85

John, in that case, which file is used when a single post is supposed to be loaded?

Hi! I really like this idea, but it seems I can’t put the code very well… I’m using Almost Spring Theme.

Please take a look at it so you can check exactly where to put the code: http://weblogs.us/themes/almost-spring.zip

I know it must be in “Single Post”, and “Index Main Template” but… where? And why the code must be in the Main Template?

      Main Template:
      After this:

Or after this, or somewhere else?

      Single Post

Again, I put it before this:

And it showed me the code of other post.

      Thanks.

By the way, all the comment reply thing doesn’t show with Opera 8.5.

Opps, this thing deleted the code in my post. Anyways, please have a look at the Theme and tell me where I should put it.

Hi Stahn, thanks for your interest. Sorry I have lost my commitment with working with these plugins.. “Live Posts” was perhaps just a little Proof of Concept I have.. Its not really well designed and implemented.. Maybe some others might reimplement this idea. The closest I have seen is ajax for yahoo mail https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Newest&numpg=10&id=1127
