Herod's lusted for his wife's daughter, and promised her anything she wanted when she danced for him at a feast. After her dance, Herod asked her what she wanted to even half of his kingdom. Salome asked her mom, Herodias, what should she ask. Herodias, angry with John and his preaching the truth, told her daughter to ask for John's head on a silver platter. The Baptist, who was already in jail, head was grusomely put on a silver platter, without it's body and taken to Salome. Later, Salome was beheaded herself by falling into some ice. So the king asked the belly danccer what she wanted out of the whole kingdom. She went home and asked her mother what should she ask for.She replied to her taht she should ask ffor the head of john the baptist.
