BBQ 14 June 2009 @ Pasir Ris Park

Had our family gathering BBQ yesterday at Pasir Ris Park. Pit costs $20! didn’t know it is so expensive.

This is by far the best BBQ because of the food we had. No burnt food this time. The last BBQ i had with my relatives was a nightmare (2yrs ago)! One guy occupied the pit and BBQ everything….. and he sucks at it.. all the food ended up burnt. And he didn’t eat any of the stuff he bbq and left! We could only bbq whatever was left uncooked…

No such problem this time, because the guy is long gone. doubt he will appear again. cheers.

Lunch Treat

Treated my mum to lunch at soup restaurant. All 3 of us are so silly as we didn’t read the T&C of the voucher we planned to use. Voucher is not allowed to be used when ordering set meal menu! Damn. end up pay full price. Food portion is small, and the chicken is the best. The rest are pretty standard and could give a miss. Just eat the chicken!

JB Short trip

Checked causeway traffic at around 2pm. Bad jam…. so went to nap… checked the traffic again at 3+pm. looks slightly better so we tried our luck.

Kranji station was not crowded. Bus 170 queue was very short but the bus that came were quick packed. We were the last 2 to get on board and had to stand on the steps. Singapore custom was a breeze because of bus lane! yeah so much faster than all u private cars.

Then we spent 30mins on bus 170 to reach malaysia customs. Good thing we had a seat. A blessing for us. Getting our passport stamped was not long, and so we reached city square at around 430pm. Bought movie ticket for Angels & Demons. Woofy couldn’t understand the story la! Good thing i did. Not a must-catch movie. Can do without….

As we were quite full, we only bought 1 mcdonald meal for dinner. Both of us bought shoes! RM70 and RM15! After the movie, it was around 10pm. and we reached Kranji at around 1045pm. Next time we shall go in the morning for the chicken chop that i wanted to try………..

New Hobby

Our Home Security System

Saw this really cute sign on the web for sales…. US$9. not cheap for a sign…….

But my house does have the following security system. Not bad at all!!

This is the big brother of the mini schnauzer…. My house don’t have giant schnauzer… neither do i wish i have one. Imagine everything the same as Google but many more times larger than him. How tough is it to bath and groom him?? Imagine the same excited behaviour as a mini schnauzer…….

My Sitex 2008 purchases

Traffic at Expo is horrible during sitex period. There is also John Little expo sales happening at the same time! Read and heard that cars are jammed, car parks are full and cars are parking illegally all around expo. We witnessed it ourselves yesterday evening at around 7pm.

Luckily Woofy told me that we should park at the other side of expo to avoid the main crowd. Spent around 5-10minutes to eventually get a lot. Other cars were still queuing at the main road to turn into expo…… the queue is long…. almost 300-400m long…

We saw a dialect club holding their dinner at expo level 2. 30-40 tables. We both felt that they are foolish not to check the dates because Sitex is on-going too. At 730pm, there only a couple of people inside. Most of them should be stuck in the horrible traffic jam and can’t find a parking space. I would say…. Foolish organizer….

Now let’s take a look at my purchases!

Cheap and Filling lunch

Woofy receive a discount voucher for Sizzler which entitles us to a $15 off for every $50 spent. Sounds good to us so we decided to give it a try today. We went for lunch, and have problem spending the minimum $50. The initial set that we wanted were just $17 each, and with taxes, that would amount to near $40. If we order $50, all we have to pay is $35. Why should we order cheap sets?

So i went for the Ribeye steak at $25, while she went for 2 piece grilled chicken at $20. All in all with taxes, it is $52, and we paid $37 after discount. For $37, we get a generous and yummy portion of main course and free flow of items at the salad bar (pasta, salads, mushrooms, soups, fruits, eggs, hams etc.)

The food is way better than those served at New York New York where they can’t do steak, can’t do fish and chip and can’t even do fried mushrooms. The total bill for 3 pax was $70+.

So for budget and acceptable grills, i think Sizzler does make the cut.
